FUNDRAISING GUIDELINES for OMAS SISKONA of KW

GUIDELINES FOR OMAS SISKONA GROUP EVENTS:

Members of OMAS SISKONA are encouraged to suggest fundraising opportunities
to the Planners Team, as individuals, as a group of members or through periodic brainstorming sessions (using the Fundraising Event Proposal Form). The role of the Planners Team is to review these suggestions to determine which are viable and within our Mission.

(Currently we try to organize a major group-sanctioned event each fall and spring and smaller events when possible.)

The Planners Team then makes a recommendation to the general membership for approval. If approved, the process of organizing the event is initiated.

GUIDELINES FOR MEMBER-INITIATED EVENTS:

Individual members of OMAS SISKONA are encouraged to initiate their own
fundraising events throughout the year. They do not need Planners Team approval per se but may wish to inform the Planners Team so that they can coordinate the timing of the event and can access the following supports:
            a.  an announcement of the event at general meetings and in the DRUM BEAT
            b.  an opportunity to invite others to attend and/or contribute
            c.  educational material from the EDUCATION team
            d.  forms for public donations to the SLF
            e.  assistance registering the event with the SLF, if requested.
Note: Registration is not mandatory. It does, however, allow for posting of the event on the G2G and SLF websites, the posting of the event in the SLF database and a request for educational materials.
            f.  consultation re tax receipting and forwarding of the proceeds to the SLF  by the OMAS SISKONA treasurer.

Because a member-initiated event is not an OMAS SISKONA group event, the following must be considered:

            a.  the percentage of the proceeds that will be forwarded to the SLF must be                 posted/stated.
            b.  the use of official OMAS SISKONA and SLF logos requires approval from
each organization. Note: the stand-alone SLF logo cannot be used by anyone except the SLF. Logos that include the wording "in support of  " or "proceeds going to" can be used by individuals and groups.
            c.  if the proceeds are to be credited to OMAS SISKONA, they should be submitted to the SLF by the Treasurer OR, if they are sent directly to the SLF by the member, they should have "OMAS SISKONA" noted on the memo line of the cheque.
            d.  the OMAS SISKONA mission should guide the planning of the event.
